The Ventura County Film Festival Two Decades of Cinematic and Green Education

The Ventura Film Festival maintains its position as "the largest film festival ever held in Ventura County." This remarkable achievement reflects the festival's commitment to bringing diverse cinema to the local community while maintaining its focus on essential conservation issues.

The Ventura Film Festival functions as an unrestricted genre international film festival that raises awareness for conservation issues such as woodland and marine conservation and recovery, via a yearly film showcase and corresponding activities. The organization employs the medium of movies to stimulate involvement and create meaningful dialogue around these pressing environmental challenges.

The Ventura Film Festival originated in 2004 and has showcased numerous films, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has garnered interest from the global film industry. The founding executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was chosen to participate, accompanied by many of Hollywood's leading celebrities, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Academy Award recipients Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, along with Golden Globe award winner Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This gathering also operated as the official BluRay release by Fox and MGM of the iconic West Side Story, which is generally recognized by critics and fans as the best musical of all time. This exceptional honor and participation demonstrates the festival's considerable reach and respected position within the entertainment industry.
